This is a Symtec copy lathe. Built in Adelaide in the 80's. I bought it off an old guy in Perth and restored it. What's cool about it is you don't need to be a good wood turner to get a consistent result. It's more about jig making. Basically the router sled follows a template and the cutter copies the profile onto the timber. It's a process that's infinitely repeatable with perfectly accurate results. This coffee table leg in Blackwood took just under 2 minutes to shape. I've made a second video for YouTube as an extension to this with a simple sanding technique that we use to accurately sand on the lathe with zero cross grain scratches. Check the link in my profile and feel free to subscribe should you wish.#woodwork #woodturning #woodlathe #symtec #copylathe #furnituremaker#madeinmargaretriver #australianmade
